Packaging Material Troubleshooting Guide

Reference Standard: Relevant material and package-performance testing standards should be selected according to the contents, container system, closure, coating, transport conditions, and intended application. When materials used for packaging appear to fail, the material name alone rarely identifies the specification that needs attention. Start with the observable symptom—leakage, product movement, oxygen or moisture exposure, corrosion, light exposure, or poor dispensing—and then recheck the container construction, closure or seal, coating, geometry, and application requirements associated with that package. A useful troubleshooting process separates the failure symptom from assumptions about a material family. Tinplate, silicone, PE, PET, PP, and aluminum can each be part of very different package constructions, so a buyer … 続きを読む
